On 23 October 2026, our international sales team walked the halls of the 94th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) in Beijing with visiting clients. Held 21-24 October at the Capital International Exhibition & Convention Center, and co-located with the 93rd PHARMCHINA trade fair, CMEF's autumn edition gathered thousands of manufacturers spanning imaging, in-vitro diagnostics, surgical equipment and disposable medical consumables - a concentrated snapshot of where China's medical supply chain is heading next.
A day on the show floor with our clients
The visit started at the Medical Ultrasound Special Forum, where a full session hall followed product launches from Chinese ultrasound makers pushing imaging into higher-end territory. From there we moved into the equipment halls, where surgical robotics had stepped out of concept displays into hands-on demonstrations - our client examined an ultrasound-guided puncture robot working on a training arm, then tested an interactive smart-device simulator at another booth.

For consumables buyers, these equipment halls are not a detour - they are a signal. Every new automated or imaging-guided procedure creates demand for the procedure-specific kits, dressings and sterile barriers around it. Watching which technologies draw real crowds helps us decide which kit concepts to develop for OEM customers.

The afternoon was spent in supplier meetings, including a working session at the Beijing Jingfeng Pharmaceutical booth, reviewing product lines and comparing packaging and specifications for tenders in our clients' markets. This is the part of CMEF that rarely makes headlines but decides most sourcing outcomes.

Trends we watched on the floor
- Ultrasound moving upmarket and downstream at once. The special forum was standing-room only, reflecting both premium launches and the push of ultrasound into primary and home-care settings - each new use case carrying its own consumables and accessories demand.
- Surgical robotics reaching the demonstration stage. Puncture and placement robots were running live on training models. As these systems spread, procedure kits and sterile setups will need to be redesigned around them - an OEM opportunity we are tracking closely.
- Digital consumables management going mainstream. SPD (supply, processing and distribution) digitization banners across the halls signaled that hospital buyers increasingly expect traceability-ready consumables, not just competitive unit prices.
- One-stop sourcing momentum. With PHARMCHINA and NHNE co-located, buyers could cover devices, pharmaceuticals and health nutrition in one trip - reinforcing CMEF's role as the region's most efficient sourcing week.
What this means for our partners
We left Beijing with a concrete shortlist: new audited partner factories for OEM programs, refined kit concepts tied to robotic and imaging-assisted procedures, and packaging updates to meet tender specifications our clients raised during booth meetings. Findings like these feed directly into our product development and factory audits, so that what our clients saw on the show floor translates into quotable programs within the year.
